Past President of the Clay County Dental Society

Dr. Steven Crovatto, DMD

Though a New York native, Dr. Crovatto and his family relocated to Orange Park after his father finished dental school. The latter opened his own practice in 1983, with the younger Crovatto helping his dad’s patients throughout high school. This experience – which included lab work and similar tasks – helped him commit to a career in dentistry, a path that he's never looked back on.

Such a pursuit has involved much training and education. Following graduation from Orange Park High School, Dr. Crovatto studied at the University of North Florida before earning his DDM from the University of Florida. He’s thus highly trained in various facets of dentistry, especially restorative care, dental implants, root canals, and tooth extractions. His experiences also include serving as president of the Clay County Dental Society, as well as continuing education that updates him on the latest techniques and advancements.

Of course, Dr. Crovatto has (and cherishes) a life outside dentistry. He loves spending time with his wife and their two children, who mean the world to him. The good doctor also enjoys hobbies like fishing, diving, and flying.

Dr. Megan Edwards, DMD

While she’s lived in North Florida for some time now, Dr. Edwards was born and raised in the South Florida area. She and her husband only moved north once Dr. Crovatto began reducing his work hours. Becoming an associate dentist at that time, she has since helped lessen his workload and has found herself fitting in quite well.

Dr. Edwards has a top-tier background befitting her role. Having earned her undergrad and DDM degrees from the University of Florida, she loves to perform a wide range of helpful dental services. (Her key favorites are procedures in cosmetic dentistry, especially veneers and orthodontic care.)That she can work closely with Dr. Crovatto to help our patients is something she truly values.

With all that said, Dr. Edwards has plenty she enjoys outside the office. Chief among them is time spent with her husband and two daughters. Otherwise, you might find her traveling, doing home improvement projects, or cheering for the Gators.

Why Are You Looking for a Dentist Near Fleming Island?

I Need a Checkup & Cleaning

Making biannual checkup and cleaning appointments is one of the best things you can do to promote your oral health. Regardless of whether you’re looking to book for yourself or your child, we’d be happy to be your regular dentist! Our team will check your smile for potential problems like gum disease, cavities, and bite misalignment. Then we’ll perform a thorough cleaning with special instruments that can eliminate more plaque than your toothbrush can at home.

I Want to Enhance My Smile

If you’re bothered by dental staining, your dentist near Fleming Island can provide you with professional take-home whitening trays or brighten your smile in one day with an in-office treatment. For minor cracks and chips, we typically recommend direct bonding, which involves sculpting a tooth-colored resin over surface flaws. Porcelain veneers, meanwhile, are a catch-all solution. After adhering these thin, customizable shells to the front-facing portion of your teeth, they’ll look perfectly white, perfectly shaped, and perfectly seamless!

I Am Missing One Or More Teeth

We’re sorry to hear that – we know that missing teeth can take a toll on both your physical and mental health. Fortunately, your dentist in Fleming offers a variety of solutions, enabling you to choose a replacement that works best for you. Dentures are a tried-and-true restoration that can be configured to replace a few teeth or an entire arch. A dental bridge is perfect for “bridging” the gap between one or more missing teeth in a row. And dental implants can be attached to a denture, bridge, or crown for added stability and increased chewing power. If you are interested in a dental implant restoration, you’ll be glad to know that we can perform the entire treatment process in-house!

I Want to Straighten My Smile

We provide the most comfortable, low-profile way to straighten smiles: Invisalign clear aligners. Thanks to modern innovations, Invisalign can treat the vast majority of dental misalignments, including overbites and underbites. They also tend to move teeth faster than traditional braces. You do have to wear Invisalign aligners for at least 22 hours every day, but while you are wearing your aligners, no one will be able to tell you’re undergoing orthodontic treatment.

I Am in Pain & Need Help

Call us right away! One of our team members will be able to provide first aid guidance over the phone if necessary. Once your immediate needs are taken care of, we’ll try to see you on a same-day basis if possible. During your emergency dental appointment, we’ll examine your mouth closely, review our findings with you, and go over your financial and treatment options.

I Have Jaw Pain

Many different things can cause chronic jaw pain, but one that is sometimes overlooked is TMJ disorder. Our team can provide both a diagnosis and treatment. Depending on the exact nature of your disorder, we might recommend filing down just a few of your teeth to even out your bite or wearing a customized oral appliance. Either way, the main goal is to take pressure off of your jaw and relieve the stress being exerted on your TMJ.
